Faculty Development Programme – Effectiveness in Nursing Education

The Indian higher education system is the second largest in the world in terms of enrolment, consisting of nearly 30 million students enrolled in 48,500 institutions. The quality of teachers and faculty members will decide the quality of the students and thereby the next generation manpower.

Aims:

The Programme aims at enhancing the academic and intellectual environment in the Institutions by providing faculty members with enough opportunities to pursue research and to participate in seminars / conferences / workshops. Participation in such programmes would enable faculty members to update their research and pedagogical skills.

The collective expertise of Nursing faculty is shared with the participating academicians with a primary thrust on equipping the participants with contemporary research and teaching skills. Emphasis is also given to understanding the philosophy of management, design and development of learning resources and so on.

What are the Objectives ?

The Faculty Development Programme (FDP) intends to provide teaching to facilitate up-gradation of knowledge, skill and intends to provide opportunities for induction training to teachers employed in various aspects of nursing.

Faculty Development Programme (FDP) to cover areas such as technical education policy, new concepts, methods and techniques, theory and skills development and up gradation of nursing educational technology, motivation, communication skills, management and other relevant issues to keep pace with the changing scenario in Nursing Education.

The scheme is designed to enhance the teaching and other skills of the faculty. And to make them aware about modern teaching tools and methodologies. It provides an opportunity to acquire knowledge about current technological developments in relevant fields. It will not only promote the professional practices relevant to technical education but also motivates the faculty to achieve competitive teaching and learning environment, thus channelizing development with respect to academic qualifications and personal matters.
